Vianna Zimbel, BS, RCP
Vianna works with medical equipment companies,
DME, rehab providers and respiratory com-panies
in achieving accreditation and meeting regulatory
requirements. Vi-anna has more than 25 years of
clinical respiratory therapy experience and is the former
National Home Care Ser-vices Manager for Lincare.
She began consulting in 1992 with a focus on
JCAHO, and has since added ACHC and CHAP to
her specialties. She helps companies pass accreditation
by re-viewing the company’s current process
and documentation for compliance. In preparing
companies for accreditation, she also ensures compliance
with the F.D.A., O.S.H.A., D.O.T., etc. She
is a veteran of more than 180 surveys by JCAHO,
CHAP, and ACHC.
Jeffery S. Baird, ESQ.
Jeffrey is the Chairman of the Health Care Group of
the Amarillo, Texas based law fi rm of Brown & Fortunato,
P.C. The fi rm’s Health Care Group has a large
national health care practice with clients throughout
the United States. The Health Care Group represents
durable medical equipment companies as well
as many other health care entities. The Health Care
Group works closely with the Department of Justice,
Offi ce of Inspector General, Centers for Medicare
and Medicaid Services, National Supplier Clearinghouse,
Durable Medical Equipment Regional Carriers,
Food and Drug Administration, and other federal
and state regulatory agencies. Mr. Baird has authored
numerous articles and is a frequent lecturer
throughout the country. He earned a B.B.A. from the
University of Iowa and received his law degree from
the University of Tulsa College of Law. Mr. Baird is
Board Certifi ed in Health Law by the Texas Board of
Legal Specialization.
M. Tray Dunaway, MD, FACS, CSP
Tray is a healthcare futurist who consults, writes
and speaks on the modern and evolving healthcare
ecosystem. He is the chief "dotsultant" of Healthcare
Value, Inc. Dr. Dunaway holds a BS with distinction
from Duke University where he graduated Phi Beta
Kappa, Summa Cum Laude. He received his MD
from the University of Pennsylvania, and his postgraduate
work in general surgery was completed
at the University of Virginia and the University of
South Alabama. He is a board certifi ed surgeon and
a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. Today,
this frustrated surgeon, turned healthcare pioneer,
consults, writes, and speaks for physicians, physician
offi ce staff, hospitals, hospital administration
and leadership teams, HIM, compliance, homecare
and hospice, businesses of healthcare, payers, and
patients on how to connect the dots of healthcare.
Dr. Gary Schwantz, Ph.D.
Gary has a Ph.D. in Family Consumer Sciences Education
from Texas Tech University with an emphasis
in adult education and customer service in industry
and education. He received his master’s from University
of North Texas in Public School Administration
and his bachelor’s from Texas Tech in Family Studies
and Home Economics Education. Gary is now a fulltime
speaker and facilitator, and some would even say
he is humorous and inspiring. Gary was most recently
Director of Educational Services for The MED Group
and dedicated seven years to creating courses and
facilitating programs. Gary completed his 9th year
as faculty in the College of Human Sciences at Texas
Tech University and has twice received recognition as
Outstanding Faculty. As a Texas Tech professor, he
has taught courses in Interpersonal Skills, Law in the
Hotel/Restaurant Industry, and now teaches a Human
Sciences Seminar. Gary’s careers have extended
across several industries: high school teacher and
administrator; administration in community college;
carpenter and remodeling contractor; ministry; sales
and sales training; grant development for a hospital;
including County Commissioner for Lubbock County.
Robert Hoover, MD, MPH, FACP
Robert is Chief Medical Offi cer at DeVilbiss Healthcare,
one of the world’s largest manufacturers of respiratory
devices for the homecare and extended care
markets. Dr. Hoover uses his extensive experience,
knowledge and relationships with medical professionals
to lead clinical research and new product development
at DeVilbiss. In addition, he leads DeVilbiss’
government relations activities. Dr. Hoover spent 7
years at CIGNA as the Medicare Durable Medical
Equipment Regional Carrier (DMERC) Medical Director
for Region D where he was responsible for coverage,
coding and claim review for durable medical
equipment, orthotics and prosthetics for the Medicare
program. He has served on numerous technology
advisory committees that evaluate the medical effi -
cacy of various medical treatments and has spoken
extensively to the medical community on coverage
and new technology-related topics. A graduate of the
University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL, Dr. Hoover
earned his medical degree from the same institution
and completed his residency at Vanderbilt University
Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Moreover, he holds
a Master’s of Public Health (MPH) from the Medical
College of Wisconsin. Dr. Hoover is board-certifi ed
in internal medicine and is a Fellow in the American
College of Physicians.
Dr. Thomas K. Speer
Dr. Speer is a clinician, scientist, educator, theologian,
and explorer. He is a Diplomate, American Board of
Sleep Medicine, Fellow, American Academy of Sleep
Medicine, a member of the American Psychological
Association as well as other professional organizations.
He received a Bachelors of Science from the
Ohio State University, Masters of Divinity Degree from
Duke University and his Doctor of Philosophy from
the University of Toledo. He completed post-doctoral
training in clinical sleep disorders at Henry Ford Sleep
and Research Center. He has published many articles
and has lectured widely throughout the United
States. In keeping with his true passion for America to
sleep better, he employees over 20 years of professional
clinical experience to develop techniques and
interventions in the area of clinical sleep disorders
and behavioral sleep medicine for both children and
adults. He holds a FAA commercial pilot certifi cate
for Hot Air Balloons and a US Coast Guard Captain’s
license. He currently owns a private practice
at Sleep Interpretations Unlimited, LLC, Houston,
Texas, an accreditation site visitor for the American
Academy of Sleep Medicine and serves as Project
Director and Principal Investigator of the Circa-Dian
Initiative, JustSleepMore.com. He served his country
as a Reserve Combat Offi cer in the U.S. Army
Reserves during the Vietnam War Era and earned
his Eagle Scout by the age of 13.
Tamera Kay Harden, CRT, RPSGT, BS
Tamera is the Regional Clinical Specialist for
ResMed Corporation. She obtained a BS in Health
Services with a Major in Management in 2003, and
a Certifi cate of Completion in Polysomnography in
2001 from California College For Health Sciences.
In 1983, she also received her Certifi cate of Profi
ciency in Respiratory Therapy from Tyler Jr. College.
Tamera has worked in the health related fi eld
for 25 years, with 7-½ years experience in Respiratory
Therapy in-hospital care, 3 ½ years in Asbestos
Research, 14 years in the sleep lab, and 7 years
in Home Care. Some of Tamera’s accomplishment
include: Presidents Club 2006; Speaker at Texas
Diabetes Expo, Austin, 2007; Speaker at MedTrade,
Las Vegas, 2007; Regional Clinical Specialist for
Region of the Year Award 2007, and Sales Appreciation
Award 2007.
Kimberly S. Wiles, BS, RRT (Director of Respiratory Care, Klingensmith HealthCare)
Wiles has more than 20 years of respiratory experience,
15 of those in sales and marketing, operations,
and management in the homecare environment.
She is active in state and local respiratory
care activities.
Rob Clear (Regional Manager, The MED Group)
Rob Clear worked as Purchasing Manager for
CVMS for fi ve years before joining The MED Group.
He was involved in training, marketing, logistics, and
new business development in the home care industry.
Prior to that he worked in Logistics at Federal
Express. Rob has also worked in retail management
roles. He currently serves as the MED Group’s Central
Regional Manager.
Patty Reni, RRT (Regional Manager, The MED Group)
Patty has 20+ years experience in the HME industry,
with a strong focus on Respiratory Home Care. She
ran her own consulting fi rm, assisting HME’S in the
development and enhancement of respiratory programs
that were both cost effective in helping them
achieve excellence in patient care.
