STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION

Membership to the National Respiratory Network (NRN) is limited to those MED members making the commitment to excellence in home respiratory care services. These elite MED members make numerous sacrifices, often with no additional reimbursement, to ensure that only the highest level of home respiratory care is provided to their patients. It is for these reasons that the following criteria for membership to MED’s NRN be met.

I. General Criteria:

1) Active MED member in good standing.

2) Accredited by one of the MED recognized independent accrediting agencies.

3) Mandatory attendance of at least one NRN meeting per year.

II. Vendor Criteria:

1) Product loyalty program. NRN members agree to purchase at least eighty percent (80%) of their need respiratory equipment and supplies from current MED contracted vendors.

2) Product trials. NRN members will voluntarily participate in manufacturer product trials and product beta-site testing.

3) NRN members will participate in MED or manufacturer sponsored marketing focus groups and surveys.

III. Clinical & Staff Criteria:

1) Employ at least one, full time, appropriately credentialed and licensed (where applicable) respiratory care professional (RCP).

2) RCP(s) are directly involved in the management and delivery of all respiratory related products and services.

3) NRN members provide at least three (3) of the following home respiratory services:

Aerosol therapy
Apnea monitoring services
CPAP and Bi-level therapy
Diagnostic testing (i.e., polysomnography, pulse-oximetry)
Invasive mechanical ventilation
IPPB therapy
NPPV systems
Oxygen therapy
Respiratory disease management
Tracheostomy products
Unit dose medications

IV. Specific NRN Member Criteria:

1) Participation in MED’s traveling oxygen program.

2) Willingness to share marketing materials, policy manuals, forms, etc.

3) Regularly purchase one or more of the following MED NRN products or services:

PIC sheets (respiratory)
Respiratory Review
MED University respiratory CEU programs
MED clinical policy manual
